is it understandable

[c=7700B2][i]to feel down when one of your elderly parent is down? this happens whenever i detect my mother sounds down on the phone, if she sounds like she has a low mood...it affects me quite a lot, i feel down and insecure as well....as i live alone now, my two elderly parents live far away from me now....they are my only support network....i lost touch with any friends i had from my youth.

how can i rise above it when my mum has a low mood? does it mean i'm codependent?

Have you ever considered moving back closer to them.

@Primnproper thanks for your answer, unfortunately they live in a rural area and there's currently no housing available near them...i have lived here 19 years now and are settled, but i do get lonely and miss my mum especially, she gets up to visit every couple of months.
