It's not your job to entertain her. But you are nice so you did it. You deserve a peaceful time. I had rough day at work because I had to do almost everything and my colleagues denied to do any work but I kept my patience. I don't want to let people drain me.

Sounds to me like possibly he just needs to vent a bit but not really looking for people to give him answers. This is something good friends can do for each other. He may already know he needs to figure it out for himself. It's always nice to have a friend that will just listen to our venting but not offer advice all the time. Sometimes it takes a very patient soul to this for someone else. I don't think it's about entertaining at all... (imho)

You have 0 reason to feel guilty. This may sound callous, but in my experience the greatest harm comes from the best intentions. Coddling someone is far more harmful than letting them take care of themselves. You did the right thing.
