It sounds to me like you're dealing with depression.
Animals around you can help, so can "spirituality"
Years ago, when I was dealing with severe depression, I joined a "Depression Group" run by a shrink.
It was small, only about 5 or 6 others, all in the same boat.
That group helped me a lot.
If you live in a large city, you should be able to find a "depression group" at any large medical center or mental health facility.
Depression is nothing to be ashamed of.
Being in a small therapy group with other people dealing with depression might be something you might want to check out
However, left untreated, depression can have very serious consequences.
You probably shouldn't try to deal with depression by taking drugs or alcohol, or by simply ignoring it.
Seeing a psychiatrist would be the first thing I'd recommend
He or she might want to proscribe an anti-depressant for you,
Stay away from the SSRI anti-depressants such as Paxil, Prozak, Zoloft, or Lexapro
Instead, your doctor could proscribe one of the Benzodiazepines, such as Valium, Ativan, or Klonopin, which are much safer anti-depressants than the SSRIs.
(Psychiatrists can proscribe medications for depression, but psychologists can't)
Good luck.
