There was a time when this was a compliment. For you how does it feel ? Disrespectful? or a compliment?

I remember when if the boys didn't whistle it was a problem as you thought you were undesirable as a girl.
It to me is sad that people actually no longer seem to know the difference between a compliment and harassment.
There were times when if some said you looked nice, your hair looked nice, you had nice eyes, where as a lady it made you feel good and you would say thank you.

@espoir Interesting discussion between you and @Longleggedlady. I think times and values have changed over the years and that goes for the preferences too. In the present times it is not difficult to compliment a person of opposite gender but to an individual of the same gender. Eyebrows are raised in suspicion 🤨

@xbandoleerx interesting
@Longleggedlady Because of a change in perceptions and customs and what society dictates.
People are taught how to think and act throughout history,

a lot do as they are told and this may have been a while back: e.g. be a "gentleman". "You should whistle for women..hey like that" e.t.c.

And nowadays its like "Whistling..is bad." "Don't do that" e.t.c. and more.

It should be up to the guy himself. If you want to whistle..go ahead or such things as some women might like that or might make their day a bit better. You never know.

Plus people see and do what they see in films, TV Shows and mainstream media.

Also people are made to be scared of doing things because of idiots who are brainwashed such as "people who fakeprotest" to fuck other peoples lives up such as young girls brainwashed into saying things like "whistling is not good..how dare you.." HAHA 🙄😂🤣

Anyways I do not mind and never really happens. But I have been honked at before 🤦‍♀️🙈😬😂🤣 scared me at that time lol.

Whoops long answer. 🤷🏼‍♀️😇
Men can be base. How many women like being catcalled? I just walk on by. Men these days tend to not catcall. They have manners.

@Longleggedlady thats the way to go. The right way to handle non-issues.

@PoetryNEmotion I am sorry for I should have been clear to mention that i was referring to the upcoming ones.
I believe we could not deliver ourselves in the right manner

@Longleggedlady I consider being whistled at extremly disrespectful and I would not feel comfortable at all same goes for any random compliment of a man especially when the age difference is big. Especially if it's just based on looks which is kinda superficial.

How someone perceives such interactions depends on personal history (maybe with pushy men or even sexual harrassment). I just think men shouldn't give random compliments or catcall women.
In a world in which femizides and domestic violence still occur far to often (each time is too much already) and in which partriarchal structures still exist (in some countries more in others less) men should be able to life with the fear that some women might not take kindly to random compliments.
