Does anyone know anything about self publishing a book?

My niece wants to make a cook book. She has a binder full of recipes she’s been perfecting over the years and little drawings that go with them. I think it’s a great idea but I’m not sure where to even start or how to lead her in the right direction.

I think you can self-publish on Amazon for free, or maybe you have to buy a membership and then the actual publishing is free, try to google "self-publish amazon" or something like that, or if you have specific questions write "reddit" after whatever you google, because in my experience the reddit community has a lot of useful knowledge, and it's often quite legit.
