Which book do I write?

I have two ideas for a book. The first is a broad subject with a larger market but my credentials to write it will make it more difficult to secure a contract from a publisher. The other is a much more narrow subject where my credentials are impeccable but the market is much smaller. Which book do I write?

Things which are difficult to achieve are much more satisfying when you achieve them. On the other hand, exploiting an area of expertise can be a profitable endeavor! I would recommend you take a job in residential landscape maintenance to free your subconscious mind. The answer will then make itself clear to you in the proper time.

I think you should write the book you are credentialed for to secure your legitimacy as an author - then write the 2nd book and hopefully you will benefit from that legitimacy and gain some experience from the 1st book as well - to help make the 2nd more of a financial success....good luck.
@fun4us2b thank you that certainly makes sense.

@BiasForAction The money generating one. And then relax writing the one without credentials because you already made money from the first one.
@Miram that is my inclination

@BiasForAction I came here to say the same thing... Both with the money maker first.

Find the connection between the two that would serve as a bridge and then partition the book.

If all you're thinking about is profit you're probably wasting your time.
@hunkalove I’m wasting my time if I don’t get a book contract so that’s my dilemma — I’m not doing it for the money dude

The one that interests you the most. After you finish, write the second book. 🙂

@BiasForAction Thank you very much 🙂 My biggest problem is what I call the fluff. Describing what everyone is wearing. What each room looks like. I'm my mind I don't have to spend time on that because I know every detail, but my readers don't know it.
@Musicman I can imagine that would be important to them, yeah.

@BiasForAction Right now I am going back through the first three chapters and adding that. ☹ It is boring, but necessary.
