What is the story behind your username? How did you get it?

icedsky · 51-55, M
Formally known as Sky in several other apps. Because I posted lots of pictures of the sky. Couldnt use it here it was already taken.

I got out of the air force when I was a young man. I decided to get an earring which was very uncommon for men of that day. My friend saw the earring and called me Hippy. He passed away a number of years ago and to the day of his death he called me Hippy. Dad gave me the name Joe so I put the two names together.
Barack Obama and the bailouts of the automotive, airline, and mortgage companies/Unions in 2008. Its a quote from the Eagles - Hotel California, you can check out any time, but you can never leave.
I looked up names of flowers and found one I didn't find to be too common and I love the name of it.

parents named me it when i was born
ElRengo · 70-79, M
Rengo means Lame.

The nick was given by 1982, South Atlantic war. Got some metal in my left hip and upper leg.
Next 48 hs are nebulous in my memories, but others say I did some remarcable hard to believe things during that time. And I received a medal for what I barely remember.
I got almost well some months after so no more "rengo" since then.
But a bunch of old veterans still call me that way and other friends also took it as a nickname that last till now.

It was brought up so much years later when I lost the woman that was the love of my life.
As about 40 years erlier I still walk wounded.
But I feel only "one leg" of my own (me) works like it should.

I was Knobbyknees on EP but an incident there made me feel i had to delete my account. I missed EP so rejoined but wanted to be in Disguise... seemed logical to be open about the fact

calicuz · 56-60, M
I grew up in Northern California, so when I moved back to the city of my birth I was the cuzin from Cali, hence the name calicuz.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
No especial reason for it, but I picked the name of a small and rather remote bay on the Dorset coast (South-West England). My profile photo is of it, from on-line.

The original name is two words: Arish Mell; but I do not know the etymology.

By co-incidence, RickiChickie uses as hers, a photograph of a famous feature on the same stretch of coast; the rock arch called Durdle Door, only a couple of miles West of Arish Mell.
Adstar · 56-60, M
I made up my name when i first went online back around 2000.. It has a Biblical origin..

Adstar is derived from my name and a title for Jesus..

Ad: comes from my first name Adam.
Star: comes from the title, The Bright and Morning Star.

(Revelation 22:16) "I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and The Bright and Morning Star."

United with Jesus..
TheFragile · 46-50, M

An homage to my late grandmother, "Jewel ‘Bijou’ Broussard".
I decided it was time to ditch the bunny and became a snail.
I liked how nonsensical sounds with snail. So, I put them together. And Bam!! user name done.
