A Surprising Summer Night

The prior 3 months, I'd been gone for business travel more than I was home. After my Friday return flight landed, I texted from the shuttle bus.
"On track to be home about 6 p.m. I can't wait to see you."
I couldn't help but smile at her reply, "Dinner on the patio at 7 pm, just us. I can't wait for you to see me either." Clearly, she was up to something and I was anticipating a fun reunion as I exited the parking lot.
When I arrived home, a note on the counter said she was picking up dinner and I should shower and put on what she'd laid out for me. I was still pulling on her favorite shirt of mine as I walked into the kitchen. I let out a soft whistle at the sight of her standing barefoot at the island, unpacking our carry out meals. She was in a new sundress and had gotten her hair done like she'd been talking about the last couple of months, highlights and all.
"Wow! Now I know what you meant by you can't wait for me to see you." She twirled in the dress, "I take it you approve?" she said, with a hint of mischief in her voice.
My eyes took her in like I was seeing her for the first time. "You are absolutely radiant" I said. We kissed and held each other close as she told me she had a couple more surprises in store.
We caught up over dinner from our favorite Indian restaurant. There was a relaxed and flirty feel through out. At dusk she went inside for a few minutes while I started a fire in the firepit. Fireflies were starting to dance on the evening breeze when she rejoined me, carrying two Old Fashioneds made with my favorite whiskey. She set a wrapped package down on the table, telling me it was for later.
Our legs entwined a bit as we cuddled on the chaise. We sipped our drinks, and talked and kissed our way into the evening. After awhile the talking gave way to more kissing and an undeniable heat building between us.
She nodded at the package, "I think its time to open that." I removed the wrapping to find the new camera lens I had been wanting for portrait shots. "Thanks honey, this is perfect. My birthday is still months away though", I said, a bit inquisitively.
Her smile was inviting as she stood up. "There's another package on the bed now, one with some new lingerie in it. I'm going to model it for you .. and .. I thought you might want to take some pictures."
I rose and followed her silently, at just the right distance to enjoy the sway in her hips as she walked into the house. My breath caught in my chest as she looked back at me and slipped the sundress from her shoulders, letting it fall to the hallway floor.
As midnight approached, she slipped into the closet while I fitted the lens to my camera and adjusted the settings. She emerged from the closet, like a runway model, posing and teasing for the camera. I captured the playful moments through a couple of changes, until we finally gave in to what had been building between us all night. It was definitely a night to remember, and we have the pictures to prove it.
