Love Divided (September 21)
This is for the September 21st writing prompt. I’m feeling the Halloween vibes…

The Ghost in You
I miss the version of him who loved me -
not the man who walks around today
wearing his same face, his same hands,
but hollow where his tenderness used to live.
I miss how he used to look at me and really see me.
Now that gaze is gone, even though his eyes are the same.
It’s like losing your reflection in a mirror that still exists.
This is what love divided looks like -
split between who he was
and who he’s chosen to be,
leaving me to mourn a man who isn’t dead.
I’m haunted by the memory of someone
who became a stranger
when I wasn’t looking.
