Hello all you wonderful people of SW! Is there anyone in here that fancies themselves an amateur editor?

I have an adult themed novelette that I am considering trying to self publish. Just wondering if anyone on here might want to get more experience editing and might offer up their services for free. I figured it’s worth a shot 🤷‍♀ lol

I have a side-gig where I write as a technical Journalist for a private ocean yachting magazine exclusively published for a female audience. I edit my own work which is a prerequisite for me being a contributing Writer to that monthly magazine.

If you're going to be a successful Writer of novels, you must have full control of your own work, otherwise a professional Editor can destroy your reputation as a Writer in very short order if they don't really understand what you're writing about. If you're going to be a Writer, you must also learn how to self-edit your own work.

@swirlie I have already edited it myself several times and I am currently going through it again making edits.

It never hurts to have more than one set of eyes when trying to edit your work. I’m not really looking for a developmental editor I want to keep my story mostly as it but I’m sure there are tweaks that could make it better that I’m not seeing because I’m too close to it.

That would tell me that you are not a creative, descriptive Writer. Is that how you too would describe your writing style to be?

Okay, you clearly don't understand the difference between being a creative, descriptive writer and a non-creative, descriptive writer.

For you to just roll your eyes without even asking what I'm talking about would suggest to me that you really shouldn't be editing your own work after all.
