Today I was thinking about the plural of the word "bus" because I think too much 🤷

I was texting my brother & he told me how much he hated riding busses. So in our conversation we both used the spelling, "busses" & it made me wonder 🤔

I know it's not incorrect but nobody ever taught me the difference so I decided to Google the differences between "buses" & "busses" to see if they're supposed to be used in different instances or something.

I would've assumed if it was used as a verb, like "he busses it anywhere he needs to go", then it would be better to spell it the longer way. But surprisingly no 😮
It turns out that "buses" & "busses" could be used in any of the same instances whether being a noun or a verb. Although, the spelling "busses" has become so rare that many people immediately think it's wrong.

Sorry I'm an over thinker for sure 😂
That concludes our English lesson for the day 😌

For tonight's homework I want you all to curse the English language for having way too many unnecessary words 🙏

*Edited for grammar because how dare I write an English lesson with errors* 😂

The reason that it’s fallen out of favor is that a “bus” is a vehicle, while a “buss” is a kiss.

While not technically incorrect as a plural for “bus”, the word “busses” seems more like it should be the plural of “buss”.
The word “buses” is the more commonly accepted plural for “bus”.
@DragonFruit oh I know but thanks for adding to the lesson 😌 very interesting to add as well. I could've talked a lot longer about it but I cut myself short because I didn't wanna be all extra 🤣
