What do you think about people who RSVP that they are coming to a party weeks in advance

And then text you one hour before saying “Oh hey I meant to tell you before but just didn’t get to it. We’re not coming. We actually had a conflict and couldn’t attend, sorry for the late text”.

Or who simply change their RSVP to not coming 1 hour before with no reason.

Or who say “Oh hey I’m busy cleaning and can’t come, sorry” one hour before.

Are these people irresponsible? Should I let them know it?

Possible reasons: 1: They are unable to attend due to an unforeseen circumstance.

2: They realised they no longer enjoyed your company, so they bailed out.

@Aysel Ah yes. Now I can say it….

Bye Felicia.

@SW-User Fabulous.
They’re rude. I just wouldn’t invite them again.

The nature of the beast. This is why I don't host parties haha
They are being very rude
Yes, they are. Depending on how close they are to you, you can remind them how cancelling at the last minute inconveniences a host, or you can just quietly remove them from future guest lists.

I don't see anything wrong about. Shit happens, moods change, is what it is.

To be honest weeks advance notice should by default be treated as nothing more than a strong maybe. How the hell is someone going to know how they are feeling or wanting to do two weeks advance notice? I don't see how it is really any inconvenience as a host. I host parties, whoever shows up, shows up. It's fine.
Sometimes shit happens, like one of the kids getting sick.

@NativePortlander1970 None of these things are kids getting sick
@SW-User If they told you the truth would you believe them? Sometimes people have legit reasons to cancel but think they won't be believed.
Good plausibilities
