Another Birthday Party.

Attending another birthday party tonight and Friday.

Well, to be honest, hosting it. Dinner tonight (Thursday) - just eight people - and a larger group going clubbing tomorrow night.

I have reserved a table at a Turkish restaurant in town. I checked it out last month. Family run, very informal. A big open kitchen and lots of mezzes, kebabs, roast meats, rice and flatbreads thrown on the table. Carafes of House Red, liquid hangover. But fun.

We sit down at 8.15pm. I don't expect to be out of there before midnight. Especially if the paterfamilias decides to get out his collection of drums and stringed instruments.

Somebody on SW asked me earlier what I had to do to get ready for the evening. I thought I would share my reply with you, expanded just a little.

Preparations started yesterday, when I visited my beauty therapist for a little primping and pampering.

Today, I was in College until mid-afternoon. Now, I am in the process of showering, exfoliating, re-showering. Doing my hair and makeup. Choosing a scent that is suitably seductive but won't clash with the rich aromas of roasting meats and spices. Selecting an outfit that will look stunning at the beginning of the evening but will survive spilt wine, dropped hummus, grease stains, dribbling. And dancing-on-tables shoes!

Unfortunately, a wet suit is not an option.

One of the problems with hosting the party is, you can't make your grand entrance. You have to be there to greet your guests. I will be at the restaurant by 8pm, to make sure everything is ready, so I had better go and finish my preparation.

Sounds like an awesome evening. I love that you attempt to coordinate your scent with the menu. I've never heard of such a thing!

I'm curious what "dancing-on-tables shoes" are? I can see perhaps two meanings here. One, on top of the table they will be quite visible so maybe something more stylish would be appropriate. But, two, on top of the table can be quite dangerous so perhaps something more steady like flats would be in order?? 馃

Hosting on behalf of someone else? Or yourself? Are you advancing in age? Inquiring minds need to know!

@sarabee1995 馃 Yes, sorry, I didn't make that clear. It was my birthday, I have advanced, I am now 21.
