When I was 14 and was suddenly allowed to start dating, on my 14th birthday I phoned the guy who lived on the farm down the road from our place who was 16 at the time and I asked HIM if he wanted to hang out with me!
He was very shocked at my request because after all, I was doing it all wrong... because I was suppose to sit like a wallflower beside the phone and wait for some handsome suitor to come and call on ME! According to his father, girls were not suppose to be the aggressor and start calling names in the phone book! But according to my mom, his father was out of touch with reality!
I fully agreed with him and let him rant on to me, but when he finally went silent, I asked him again if he wanted to hang out with me? He said sure! 🤣
So, we agreed to meet early that same day at the middle of the fence line that separated our two farms along their property line, which was like two forbidden people secretly meeting in the middle of a giant hayfield!
He showed up wearing long, dirty denim jeans, no shirt, no hat but leather work boots on his feet and I showed up wearing cut-off denim shorts, a black AC/DC tank top, a plain black baseball cap and pink flip-flops on my bare feet!
