Commentaries

Just a couple of minor observations recently. A passerby called me a "demon" for going barefoot. At the state fair I spent all afternoon barefooting on the grilling asphalt (it reached 107) and as I left one gatekeeper commented on the toughness of my feet. These were preferable to complaints!

Most people who have recently commented on my bare feet also think my feet must be astonishingly tough to cope with the drifts of broken glass that they imagine the streets are covered with.

Of course I also get people who yell "Put some shoes on!" at me as they walk past. Usually those do it from the safety of the other side of the road; I'm not sure what reaction they expect to get from me, perhaps they worry that I might react violently.
