The ex and I used to do that on weekends. We would get in the car and try to get lost. Getting lost took us to some very interesting places. Once we went far north, to northern New Hampshire to the tourist ski areas, and we should have stayed the night, but he didn't want to do that. We drove until 1 a.m. to get back home.

@Stereoguy Sounds like fun! I used to love finding artsy stores. Up north, they sell wood carvings and cans of maple syrup and sachet bags filled with balsam fir. On the Cape, you find a lot of art glass.

@Stereoguy I liked that, too. Once we drove to Lake Champlain, Vermont because there was a famous chocolate shop up there with it's own little factory. Then, in this area we have the Phantom Gourmet show on television, and we would go to the Phantom Gourmet food fair in Boston, or, on the way to our campground in far western Massachusetts, we might stop in Springfield just to try the Cannolis at a featured Italian bakery.

@Stereoguy We were tent campers. When camping, we drove his van, and just about packed up the house and left it in the van in case we needed it...😂. Our tent was a two room cabin tent. We slept in the back with our dogs, and used the front for our "dressing room" and porta-potti. (I didn't like to walk to the ladies room in the dark, alone).

@Stereoguy To die for! That pastry shop looks like a famous one we visited in the Italian North End of Boston!

@Stereoguy This might be it: "Federal Hill, Providence, Rhode Island has some good restaurants and cafes in Providence located nearby that make your time in Federal Hill, Providence, Rhode Island pleasant. You may want to have a coffee with friends in the nearby café or satisfy your taste buds with culinary delights of the Providence."
