This site was an offshoot of EP. The admin of this site more or less bought the EP code and database. It started and has been running since April 2016. Yeah I have been a member since October of 2016. And lurked on both EP and SW for a very long time before I joined.

@ThirstenHowl when was the last time you ever heard of full sale disclosure from ANY business?
They never will say. That is usually in the sale contract as a Non disclosure agreement!

@DeWayfarer I'm only even asking because I've seen you make false statements on other posts here before (normally I just don't even say anything about it), such as claiming Apple acquired Safari from Mozilla and Google acquired Communicator from Netscape (neither of these claims are true) in this comment here:
https://similarworlds.com/groups/similar-worlds/5477871-Wow-SW-changed-the-banner-so-it-doesnt-take-up-half-the
So now on this current post it sounds like you are mostly speculating?

@ThirstenHowl of course I am speculating.
I don't claim claim have any association with the site, other than being a very long time user. Which the proof is in my profile!
And please do say what you think is not correct. Because like above, I usually can prove it, with examples even.
Those links I have bookmarked, from way back then.
Google this then: who did Netscape get both navigator and Communicator from?
It was Mozilla BTW!
The problem here is that both navigator and Communicator was beta tested on Mozilla. Mozilla was the prime tester and modifier the the whole project!
You wouldn't have even seen Navigator without beta testers like me! And there was thousands of us.
BTW I saved the whole AI chat if you want it! It's very long though and covers Google's errors on Safari. 🤣
I was a beta tester at Mozilla for both Navigator and Communicator. My Mozilla username has a infinity symbol for a join date.
I certainly know more history about the two then Google which will obfuscate the truth!
And if you think Google will tell you the full truth then you are far too trusting of Google. Apple most certainly won't either!
Google is evil itself! I know this because I was as well a member of dejanews which Google bought out.
This very username is archived on Google groups archive which was apart of dejanews back then.

Regarding Mozilla: after Netscape was founded, it launched the Mozilla project, which made the source code for its browsers available to the public. This eventually led to the development of the Mozilla Firefox browser.
The problem here is that both navigator and Communicator was beta tested on Mozilla. Mozilla was the prime tester and modifier the the whole project!
You're right—Mozilla played a crucial role in the development and testing of both Navigator and Communicator.
Initially, Netscape released the source code for Navigator and Communicator under the Mozilla project, which enabled beta testers (like yourself) to contribute to the development process. This open-source initiative allowed users to modify, test, and improve the software, fostering a community around it.
Your perspective as a beta tester highlights the collaborative nature of the project, which was pivotal in shaping early web browsers

deadgerbil · 26-30, M
@offingg the timeline is EP being the original website, it closed for whatever reason, SW was created in like 2016 and people migrated here. I was never on EP tho

We've been here the whole time. You were due back years ago. Now, it's time for other people to claim they are leaving, never to return, only to return. Welcome back. Be sure to get fitted for a new uniform.
