I was a useless tart when I left school.

@SchoolBelle It is interesting that the theory has changed. One used to have a 3 minute timer, boil the water, and when it was at a rolling boil, drop the eggs into it and start the 3 minute time. The shock frequently caused at least one, and sometimes more than one egg, to crack open.

Now we just put all four eggs into the cold water, turn the heat on and then start the three minute timer as soon as the water boils.
