Jeep has an extremely poor safety record as well as poor reliability statistics and their overall poor quality cannot justify their high price. Additionally, Jeep's annual depreciation rate is higher than any other vehicle on the market today. Insurance underwriters call Jeeps 'risky' because if the vehicle is in a collision, there is a very high chance that it won't be worth fixing if the air bags deploy, which means Jeeps are written-off by insurance companies more often than any other vehicle in comparison. This translates into higher insurance premiums to own a new Jeep.

@swirlie Jeep, the brand, has higher depreciation. Jeep, the Wrangler, has one of the lowest 3-5 year depreciation rates in the industry. It’s actually a market anomaly in and of itself, much like a Toyota Tacoma. The Bronco also does very well.

Eventually the decision will become one of comfort and aesthetics.

I hate to tell you this, but the Jeep Wrangler isn't in the same league as the Toyota Highlander when it comes to resale value, in fact the Wrangler isn't even close.

@Adogslife I have an older Wrangler that's a lot fun to drive. It does seem to be holding value well. (I've never had occasion to check on other models.) I've had quite a bit of interest should I decide to sell.

The Toyota Tacoma resale values are surprising. That was another vehicle that was on my radar in the beginning, so I researched quite a bit on it.

Ultimately, the Bronco won. Picking it up today. It's a nice ride.

Now I have one of each. Best of both worlds!
