I think many of the post boomers have far more restrictive relationship rules than prior generations.

It's important to remember a lesson from your jr. high biology class....a flexible membrane is normally the strongest.

There are no rules in my relationship. We juts respect one another enough not to be disloyal. We both check out other attractive people, but we are discreet about it and don't make it obvious that we're doing that. We never speak to these other people, but we appreciate their beauty. I feel like at 40+, there is no room for high school relationship rules.

@DearAmbellina2113 You two seem to have a really good relationship tbh....
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
@originnone it's good in many ways, but there are areas where we definitely need work. 😕

Flexible membranes are strong
and useful

it used to be ok to hit your wife in their generation and previous ones. I am glad that's gone. Marital rape was also ok. I don't fuking care about their rules and values. I have my own thank you. Better a broken relationship them a nervous breakdown because you are surrounded by entitled creeps.

@Jorgillo When were those things ok? I'm 60 and they weren't within my lifetime....And there are many ways to have flexibility within a relationship that don't involve assault and rape.
Jorgillo · 36-40, M
@originnone never in theory. In practice though they were tolerated. But this is something a sane human being would not tolerate today.

@Jorgillo or any other time.

I think most of the post boomers are dead.
originnone · 61-69, M
@Carissimi It was primarily US, but it did incorporate some folks of various age groups crossing into the US...so I don't think it's 100% what you and I were discussing....but still a lot more than I would have guessed.
Jorgillo · 36-40, M
@Carissimi LMAO. Post Boomers are The generations after them. We are pretty much alive.
Carissimi · 70-79, F
Thank you. My mind was going the other way. I’m so used to thinking of what you call “post boomers” as Gen X, and Millennials. @Jorgillo
HannahSky · F
Restrictive how?
HannahSky · F
@originnone I didn't know your wife had a stroke 😔
That's great, you're who you are
originnone · 61-69, M
@HannahSky Things have been really bad for the last seven months, that being the fulcrum of it all. I know I need to be there for her, but if I got what I selfishly wanted, I'd die this minute....and this is the only place I can say it.....if something happened to her, I'd make it happen.....
HannahSky · F
@originnone does she need a caretaker at home?
That’s probably because while my generation explored "free love"

Yours received the bill. 🙁
