Depression - avoid the news?

It's hard to avoid despair & despondency over the state of the world. How useful - or practical - would it be to stop watching 'the news' on TV, in print, on radio and in conversation? I personally find it hard to know, yet ignore, much of what goes on. I'm in a permanent state of angry despondency.

{@really} these are worrying times i do agree and none of this your doing . you can shut this out and be ignorant too whats going on but sadly it is something we cannot escape or get away from as is it what it is
You’re probably watching the faux news or certain news channels that only spread instigating stuff.

You need a break. Try it for two days.

I honestly don't think we were meant to know everything going on around the world... all the hate, killing, bombings, rape, etc....
I can't deal with large doses of negative things daily.
The more people are able to spread the negatives by all kinds of ways... the more I try to avoid it all.
I have enough to deal with here with family and so many things going on. And I already know the world is full of bad things... I need to search out some good things.
