@LadyGrace They truly are.....im a huge civil war buff and i have all kinds of books, old pics, paintings. Hubby and i have traveled to many famous sites of huge battles, such as Gettysburg, Antietam, and many in Virginia.
@SW-User Wow! That is really cool. You must have quite a collection of treasures from the past.

@LadyGrace i sure do.....i have all kinds of different artifacts too. I actually got to ride a horse on the battlefield of gettysburg with a guide. It was so surreal. It took me back in time. I thought i could actually hear the cannons booming and the rifles firing!! It always touches my heart and soul when i visit these places.💖🙏
@SW-User Wow! That is really something! What a fun hobby. I love looking at old artifacts.

@LadyGrace me too!! I love museums.....you never know what youre gonna find truthfully!! 😀
@SW-User Oh yes!! This might sound a little silly but I always wanted a metal detector to go treasure hunting. Haha That is right up my alley. And get this! I was driving around on all the back roads one time which I did a thousand times and really love to do that, and I went down this long long country road and came upon a real fort!! Every board and rock and stone that man placed their by himself and it took him like 10 years to build it!! It had cabins and a church and everything! Even a building with relics and it was so cool. He just happened to be there that day and showed me and my friend, around. This place was gigantic and it even had his own handmade wooden cabin, two stories high and a huge huge fort wall and gate. It was super high. And he lived there by himself. I have never seen such craftsmanship. He went down to the river and hand-picked each stone and we got to go in all the cabins and everything.

@LadyGrace oh wow!! That is so amazing!! I would have loved to have seen that. I bet you traveled back in time!! 😀 the true crafting by ones own hands.

Ive always wanted a metal detector myself.....thinking of all the treasures one could find. But, most battlefields wont let you treasure hunt. Its understandable though.

Ive also been to several civil war battle reenactments over the years!! Seeing it kinda first hand gives you that true meaning of war and what its all about. Plus, it takes you back to that time!! 🙏🌷
@SW-User Oh the place is still there, not far from me.

I used to live in a house from 1810, and one day a guy from the neighborhood came by with a metal detector, cuz we were looking for my daughters lost ring and it was so much fun finding little treasures around the yard and to reminisce about the people who lived there and what the kids did when they were outside in those days and we found a little toy antique metal tractor, which was a lot of fun to see. In the pantry room , it look like it was a cabinet but when you open it up it was a brick fireplace at one time, so that was really fun to find. And I found out the place used to be a funeral home at one time and then a bar right on the corner there, another time. I bet there were a lot of old coins on that ground but I never got a chance to find out, but we did find some old high-topped ladies boots inside a little small doorway in one of the bedrooms and that was really interesting, because their feet were so small in those days and those people were short as well and they didn't live very long. That was a lot of fun to find those. And we had one of those wonderful deep clawed foot bathtubs. That was so nice to soak in. I would love to go look around and abandoned houses and barns. Haha and to see what you can find floating on the shores of the Missouri River. And I absolutely love finding beautiful rocks. And unique pieces at thrift shops.
@SW-User Too bad you don't live close. We would definitely go metal detecting. Haha I'm in Southern Illinois.
SW-User
@LadyGrace i actually live in Virginia. 😀
SW-User
@LadyGrace that would be so much fun going metal detecting with you!! We would have a blast!! 💖🙏🌷
@SW-User oh that's cool. I used to live in Newport Beach, Virginia.
