People tell me I'm (too) reserved, yet they don't STOP TALKING long enough for me to interject MY thoughts

Is it just me who gets this stupid comment?

How about ask me a question instead of complaining that I haven't said anything...

Everyone is not an open book, but I will answer questions

I give you credit, you don't interrupt and let them finish their comment
Teslin · M
@rosyhills Yes, that is so frustrating.
Especially when they ask you a question and interrupt you in the middle of your answer.

when i'm with the type of people that make it hard to add my opinion in the conversation, i simply say " I have an opinion about this if you want to hear it" or " I have an interesting anecdote about this if you want to hear it" or simply . I'd like to add something". but really, this is just bad communication, if I find it hard to speak in a conversation its generally because I am trying to have a conversation with people who are not very good at communicating, this litterally never happens with my friends because I chose them because talking with them is nice, I avoid people who don't communicate well. sometimes a little bit of intolerance is not so bad, I have abandoned many people down the road because talking with them was going nowhere but by doing that I ended up with an amazing selection of the smartest and kindest people. everyone that I am close to now are all super awesome people. like panning for gold you have to let a lot of rubish go by so that once in a while you pick up a tiny gold nugget. they become your friends.

@reflectingmonkey those are good for formal settings i think. This was with a church member who invited me to try a new coffee shop.

Also glad you have good friends. Hopefully that'll be me one day

It's funny, those people are usually incredibly self absorbed.
I had a friend who used to show an interest but in the recent weeks I've noticed the decline in behaviour. They rant on about their life and things they're doing but when it comes to reciprocating they're speedily wrapping the conversation up.
I pick and choose now whether I wish to answer their messages.

@Mellowgirl i know, i think next time she asks to go somewhere, I'll decline. Mentioned eating pizza for next time.
I dont see a point in me dragging myself to go with someone that i dont particularly enjoy.
