The death of critical thinking...what brought it about?

Technology has a lot to do with it. We have so many automated things, gadgets and conveniences, we don't really [i]have[/i] to think that much any more.

Taught a course on such in a SUNY school in 2005. The students coming in could write but knew nothing about logical arguments, supporting their points, and what was a good source.

Thus, it didn't surprise me as this condition swept America.
That ended with the Very Liberal GHWB administration. Never before had America been adminastered so poorly. That guy was a CIA Director, basically a reincarnation of that flaming fagget Hoover.

The average person today has his/her life controlled by at least half a dozen algorithms every day...scary! If the news u receive is tailored towards news which we already agree with, our perception of the world becomes skewed and ability for sound decisions impaired.
