Anyone know of a good brand to buy a 12 Gauge?

I don't know a whole lot about guns in general, especially when it comes to specs, quality and brands. I do know a 12 gauge is the more typical option for security purposes and home defense, so that's where I'm starting. I'm just a little apprehensive to go buy a random shotgun because I'm looking for something reliable. Hopefully, y'all can give me some pointers. Thank you!

Why do you feel you need a shotgun? Why not a handgun?

@ExperienceDLT people aren't the only threat I'll be dealing with. I also don't live in the city, I live on a farm. Wide open spaces. Handgun won't be too accurate and won't have much of a stopping power against a bigger animal.
@ArmyOfOne what kinda farm do you live on where the animals attack 🤔
@ArmyOfOne if you want a shotgun maybe try to find a sawed off shotgun it would be smaller easier to handle and still packed the same wallop

@ExperienceDLT Texas. We got big cats, coyotes, boar...you don't take chances out in the country especially if you have farm animals as an easy prey item. Hell, the other farm I have connections to in Amarillo lost THREE calves to coyotes. So it does happen and if I'm out and about before dawn and late at night, that's prime time for them and other animals to be prowling around.

Possession of a sawed off shotgun is a felony in most states.. barrel length is usually limited to 20 inches minimum..
You can make it more compact by converting it to a bullpup configuration where the receiver is behind the trigger.
Making it more versatile in confined spaces such as your home or apartment.
