Anyone know of a good brand to buy a 12 Gauge?

I don't know a whole lot about guns in general, especially when it comes to specs, quality and brands. I do know a 12 gauge is the more typical option for security purposes and home defense, so that's where I'm starting. I'm just a little apprehensive to go buy a random shotgun because I'm looking for something reliable. Hopefully, y'all can give me some pointers. Thank you!

Yea, I don’t blame you. I’m in a similar situation where I’m considering buying a gun for some peace of mind but also as a hobby
I’m leaning more towards a pistol just because it’s more what I’m used to

@Rickg exactly, you get it. I lived in apartment that got broken into. Now that I'm on a farm thinking nobody would want to mess with us out here, we'll, last night that changed. Two people who have a vendetta with my wife threatened us with arson. They were on the property too hiding in the woods. Now they didn't get arrested yet to my knowledge but I certainly won't try my luck in not having a line of defense again. Cameras go up, alarms too, and a gun in case of that or any prowling animals stalking me or my livestock.

Anyone can obtain a gun where I am anyway, so why would I want to be without one @ArmyOfOne
