Anyone know of a good brand to buy a 12 Gauge?

I don't know a whole lot about guns in general, especially when it comes to specs, quality and brands. I do know a 12 gauge is the more typical option for security purposes and home defense, so that's where I'm starting. I'm just a little apprehensive to go buy a random shotgun because I'm looking for something reliable. Hopefully, y'all can give me some pointers. Thank you!

Remington 870 ( pump action) . There are so many after market modifications possible, as well there are factory parts easily available .

@ArmyOfOne if you buy the home defense configuration you may not want / need to modify it … but the modifications available are endless

@TexChik I'll have too, I'm sure. If it's not the house being broken into then it's gonna be out in the fields. If it's not the wild animals trying to snatch anyone off the farm, it'll be dumb people trying to go after my wife or try to get rid of me.
