The UK one seems more logical but computationally, only year-month-day makes sense: 2021-11-14.

USA one minute past midnight is 12.01 am
UK it's 12.01 pm
I think that's right.
PM seems more rational to me. Why would you count 2 up from 11.59 pm to 12.01 and switch to designating it am? If you want to make it am it's 0.01 not 12.01.

@Really one minute past midnight is 12.01 am in the UK.
1 minute past noon is pm.
@Really
only year-month-day makes sense:
That's the format used in Sweden (possibly elsewhere too). It's also a common way to store dates in computer files.

@Really One minute past midnight is still 12.01 am here in Britain and 12.01 pm is one minute after midday.I have no clue where you read it as the other way around.The origin of am is anti meridiem,the Latin for before midday.Post meridiem is the Latin for after midday,abbreviated to pm meaning the sun had passed the meridian as in past midday.Day month year or year month day are logical.

@RubySoo, @tallpowerhouseblonde : I didn't read it anywhere. It's just what I seem to remember from my life in Britain; more than 40 years ago now. Or It's just the way I've always thought of it without realising I was the only sensible one in the whole country 馃槃 ! Or maybe it's changed over time to fit the American-dominated 'mid-Atlantic' culture with everybody singing like a cowboy. 馃 Haha.

As for what's logical I'll try an analogy although I know they always have a flaw that can be attacked ...

I'm counting apples - one apple, two apples, three apples - but when I have twelve apples and I add one more I call it an orange. Yeah I know it's a poor analogy, but if you genuinely try to understand what I say about the am/pm thing you will 'get it.' Otherwise probably not and you'll see it as ridiculous.

But finally, why is one minute into the new day not written as 0.01 ? 馃え
