First floor - In US it means the ground floor. In England it means the 1st floor above the ground floor 🙂

World superpower....UK still thinks they are one

Good food. USA- chill con carne, burritos, new York style cheesecake, new York pizza and Chicago deep dish pizza.

UK- fish and chips with curry

We had two spells of 'imperial pride' - 1759 to 1783, when we were the dominant global power, until France and her allies (Netherlands, Spain, Northern Coalition, Mysore, and various colonial terrorists) defeated us. And approx. 1880 to about 1918, the 'Jingo' period, but the casualties of the 1914-18 war taught us the reality of life. We struggled on, with the colonies as a millstone that most were glad to shed.

The USA tried to assume the mantle but hasn't proved a success. China seems to be the next contender.

@empanadas No denying you have lots of guns. But you seem to lack the ability to utilise them effectively. A superpower has to be able to use its weapons. The USA has the ability to kill, but does not seem to win wars.

@BluntSm0ker Yes, 75 years ago we were saving the world from a very unpleasant form of right wing aggression. Thankfully the USSR was on our side and absorbed about 75-80% of Hitler's army and airforce. Britain took care of most of Hitler's navy, plus the Italians, Iraquis, etc that sided with Hitler. The world owes the USSR a major debt for that.
I believe that the US joined in after Japan attacked Pearl Harbour?

@BluntSm0ker Saved and being saved. Stepping in when nobody else would and doing what no other nation had the moral or physical courage to attempt.
Thank God for the USSR- and the Commonwealth. At one time the only fully armed and equipped force ready to face Hitler's Right Wing monsters was a Canadian division based on the south coast of England- while the RAF, of course, inflicted the first defeat on the Fascists.
