My wife did. She turned into a different person.

@Azlotto better or worse?
Azlotto · M
@Mindful She is now my ex-wife.
@Azlotto whoa!

Can I ask what it did to her?

Last year I agreed to try a few differnt antidepressants.... And the first week was ok, but I didn't like how they made me feel.... I feel they made me worse in the longrun.

Admittedly only tried three, so I'm not an expert.

But I'm caught between giving meds another shot, or just using behavioural/cognitive therapy

@OogieBoogie
Can I ask what it did to her?
She did things that any rational person would never do.
@Azlotto so, if the medication was supposed to help her, but it didn't.

Why do you think she coundnt see that?

This is a thing that scares me.
One's mental processes might be damaged or broken, but I can see my brokenness.

I'm worried about meds as I've seen people on them for long periods, and frankly, they just slide back, or take more.... And although they aren't distressed any more, they aren't better. It's like they have given in.

@OogieBoogie I'm sorry. I can't give you any advice. I wish you the best.
@Azlotto I wasn't asking for advice... I was just asking for an observation.

I'd you don't want to give it, don't.

@OogieBoogie I’ve heard it good to do both not just medication. Looks like people are recommending Zoloft. I’ve never tried it. Did you let yourself be on it for at least 1 month at a time?
@Mindful I think it was about 6 months.
Had my dose quadrupled over that time.

Got to the point where I couldn't sleep due to agitation... And it enflamed my stomach, the pain was quite awful.

In fact, I'm still recovering from what it did to my digestion and my body.

I have unexplained and illogical bouts of intense fear... And horrible memories that can be triggered by everyday things.
It drives me nuts and is embarrassing,, and has gotten me into trouble at work.

So I'm kinda desperate to get on top of it.

Tbing is... I don't think this is the right thing for me.
Im not stressed out all the time... Only in moments.

I don't need medication to change my whole perception all the time, I just need something to calm me in times of fear and mental chaos.

But, to get a doctor to understand that seems impossible.

The sertraline did very little to calm me, and in fact created more anxiety at night than ever before.

In fact, I started to exhibit symptoms that I now see are the same as serotonin syndrome ... How my doctor didn't recognise this I'm amazed.
The meds were creating more problems than fixing them, as I had a bad back already.

Since I stopped taking it... My back has slowly gotten better, after almost year of it nearly crippling me.

@OogieBoogie thats awesome! Have you hear of Serenagen? It’s a subtle mixture of herbs that calms my nerves when I have to do a presentation in front of co workers. It’s authentic mix is made and sold by metagenics.
@MindfulSerenagen? Nope, not at all.

This sounds like the type of thing I need.

I only have moments to try and stop an escalation.
I'll look it up, thanks 🤗

@OogieBoogie it’s hardly noticeable except that for me, Iat the end of the day I will realize, I had les of an anxious day than I expected. I try not to to use it often because it works for my presentation days
