How can you cleanse a space of negative energy?

Does smudging work? Has anyone tried that before

What is smudging?
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@JoyfulSilence Burning white sage in the area.

Sounds like it would just degrade air quality and leave soot.

@JoyfulSilence Never underestimate the power of a good smudging.

I am an atheist so do not believe in spirits. But if the aroma is pleasing it could boost mood. But most smoke just makes me gag.
@JoyfulSilence It's a native American but it doesn't have to be religious I think. For me religion and spirituality are different. Like the Chinese have feng shui.

Feng shui, also known as Chinese geomancy, is a pseudoscientific traditional practice originating from ancient China, which claims to use energy forces to harmonize individuals with their surrounding environment. Wikipedia

Arrangement of things is important.

For example, when choosing apartments, I shy away from odd shapes, etc. I like nice rectangles and predictable patterns, especially when I have to fit in my furniture.
@JoyfulSilence Can you please try using sandle wood incense just once in your apartment you will love it.

@JoyfulSilence its when you put finger prints all over the mirror and your grandmother swats you with a wooden spoon.

Sorry, I do not want any burning scents in my apartment. I only want clean air.

I lament that sometimes I cannot have my balcony door open because my neighbors smoke cigarettes or weed. I cannot stand it.

Now, I suppose the stuff you recommend would smell better. But I do not want it.

I also do not want any flames or flammable stuff. No candles, either.

But thanks for the advice!

@WeighedDown Cruel granny.
@JoyfulSilence True my sister hates anything that produces smoke too. I guess everyone is different. How people are even put off by scented candles others are not

@RadiantRuby I have to hold my breath when I walk by a Yankee Candle store, LOL!

A few days ago I walked by a Bath and Body Works and had to gag. The smells smacked me in the face. Way too strong!
@JoyfulSilence Yes that means you have a sensitive nose. For me it's some colognes or perfumes. Ugh makes me nauseous
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@JoyfulSilence Whether you choose to believe in spirits and energy or just the psychological effect of the smell, the end result is basically the same.

@RadiantRuby I only use deodorant. I cannot stand the smell of my pits before I put it on. Even after showering well I still smell a bit of funk.

I do not mind good, slight, mild perfumes. But some ladies overdo it. And the stuff in their hair! My gosh it is awful. And why do most old ladies have such awful perfume? LOL!

Well, I suppose if I believed it had power, that might help my mood.

But it would not make it really have power, in an magical sense.

Yet I wonder: if it did have magical power, is it the type that only had am impact if I have faith that it will? It reminds me of a movie where the Greek gods said they lost their powers because people stopped believing in them.
@JoyfulSilence years ago I got into unscented soaps and deodorants. I have no idea but I have noticed. And yes deodorants are a must for me too. Recently I even started using mild detergent for my clothes

@RadiantRuby

I use unscented bars of soap in the shower, and my shampoo has only a faint scent. I also like my laundry detergent to only have a mild scent. For my bathroom sinks, I use liquid soap, and do not mind a little scent, like lavender.

I hope you have a nice-smelling day!
