I'm sorry but this isn't funny. Sure there are examples of "identify as" that seem silly or really are silly. But the expression comes from people who are courageously affirming who they are, regardless of whether society accepts it or not.

And it's merely bemusing now and we all rightly think that would be insane but if society's well-meaning tolerance comes too adrift from objective reality and a sympathetic court of Gen Z-ers gives credence to that kind of thing one day...
