Why do people give a shit about Banksy art and similar things ?

I feel like whole art industry is just one big giant front for money laundering for rich people. Plus it’s all a status symbol.

Me either. I've seen some stuff of his that's not bad, but nothing spectacular and nothing tens of thousands of other artists couldn't do as well or better. But "Art" these days is about marketing and media, not talent.

I get why some like the art but have no idea why it's important if it's from Banksy or someone else. Why should I put more value on something just because it was made by a specific person?
