Yeah. When ever you experience extremes of emotions the chemicals in the brain, exaggeratedly dip or raise you the other way
It has some proper medical name but i forget.
The theory is, is its a chemical defence mechanism of the brain for emotional stabilty
The idea being, if you are super happy, (or super sad), and then it passes....and you come back down, (or up) to normal basline ....your baseline has been reset due to your heightened emotions.
This is fine if you have been sad, as normal now makes you happy.
But if you've been happy....being normal now makes you sad.
(Which isn't good).
So what the brain does is it temporarily dips you below normal.... you feel like crap compared to how happy you were before.... .then, it brings you back to normal.
And now normal can feel like normal.

@OogieBoogie Sooo interesting. Makes a ton of sense and further confirms how dramatic the brain can truly be.

@PerfectionOfTheHeart Im really into this shit.
Theres a lot of things our brain does of its own accord.
Understanding how and why it does what it does,
can really help rationalise sometimes why we feel the way we do.... and to not always pay it too much attention.
We automatically want to connect thoughts and reasons to feelings .... when sometines the feelings are just a temporary or reactionary chemical imbalance.
Knowing these sorts of things helps stop me from spiraling or fearing the worst.
Often its not as bad as i think it is.. .and like you put it...(Which i really like your wording😂)
....is a "happiness hangover"
