How do i start?

I always wanted to make a full story but I always had trouble creating a story. Like , I have 0 idea about what I want , I dont know the genre , background , characters.. my head is empty I dont know where to begin . Someone here have any advice on how do i find my story?

Pick any narrowly defined subject that you know something about. Write a short story about it. Don't edit before you've finished the first draft. Don't worry about it being good. Just write it to completion. Enjoy that. Just enjoy the act if writing without judging yourself too much. Then do it again about some other subject. So that for a while and see if it starts your brain thinking of ideas to explore. Writing is being an explorer of ideas. Have fun with it.
