It's abusive if parents behave as though their self-worth depends on their child's achievements; that he/she must live up to their ambitions. As the child, one can not change the parents' attitude, but it is possible to recognize the abuse for what it is, and decide that one is an individual being entitled to one's own self respect, regardless.

In developed societies a child is not 'an investment'.

Thats way too much pressure.
