I found out that I was the only one who thought I was friends with my friends.

I actually don't know what to feel right now. I've been talking to these people online to try and socialize because I have a hard time talking to people in real life. So, when I managed to talk to these "friends" I thought I was doing a good job and I was slowly opening up to them. I usually don't trust others that fast but this circle felt real. We followed each other in Instagram, Twitter and added each other on Facebook. We usually talk on Messenger but I talk to this one person on Instagram DMs more. Yesterday, I found out ( while randomly updating my profile in that social media platform ) that my "friend" unfollowed me. I didn't think it was a big deal because we were still talking on other accounts. But today, I was a little busy as I spent most of my day catching up to my activities for school. I lost track of time and around 6PM today, I checked my social media ( Facebook ) after hours of being silent.

And I found out that there were zero messages waiting for me. No one sent "good morning" or even looked for me. I'm starting to feel hurt because I slowly realized that I was the only one initiating the messages. I reread the messages and I was always the first one to open up the conversation. They don't say good morning first nor ask me if I already ate. I realized that I was the only one who thought we were friends. It kind of stings.
Never hold people that are acquaintances too closely cause some are here today and gone tomorrow. Real friends stick around. Try not to force friendships. It will only bring you pain. Everyone doesn’t deserve to be a friend!

@NoGamesTolerated That's true. It's kind of sad though and quite upsetting. I'm not good at making friends and the one time I thought I was finally making progress and meeting new people, they were just pretending to like me.
@janicemegan Many people are only friends for what can benefit them. Yes, it’s sad. I think everyone has experienced that. I understand how you feel. Hug.

@NoGamesTolerated... Some acquaintces will treat you as if you were so special for a couple days.. And then forget about you or betray you

Some "friendships" may seem like that but aren't. You're better off without them

I know. Just replace these trash people with people who appreciate you

I don't think it's you... I think it's more what we expect out of social media sites. Many of us expect "friends" while it's really more of a site to interact with others but not really develop close friendships.
Sometimes, it works out that there is one or two people who become more of a real friend. I hope you find that.
