My son is not getting better. **venting**

Since he started the school year he’s rarely been a full week because of illness. The year we spent in the van we stayed pretty healthy but now we’re at the doctors a few times a month 😥

This thing he’s got now is not going away with antibiotics and steroids. He’s been twice now for the same thing. I’m getting worried and might just take him to the ER at the children’s hospital. They always listen and are more intuitive. People that work at children’s hospitals are wonderful.

I feel like a crap Mom. But I also feel like I couldn’t be a good Mom no matter how hard I tried.

I'm sure you are aware that there is a rash of young children sick with various respiratory illnesses this year. It may be from the quarantining and isolation, kids didn't develop much of an immune system while that was going on and now they are suffering from having under developed immune systems.

Trust your gut. If you feel you need to get him additional attention, I would not hesitate to do so.

@SumKindaMunster Thank you. Yeah he was in kindergarten in 2020, then last year we were traveling, and this year my poor boy can’t catch a break. I’m usually catching everything from him too which is wearing me out. We had Covid, then the flu back to back. I still don’t feel the same 😆

My gut says I need to take my boy to professionals that deal with kids and will help him. We’re in Delaware, the land of nobody cares about anyone.

You’re a great mom… your concern about that says it all

What does he have going on? You mention steroids… any chance he has undiagnosed asthma? Or an allergy to something in the house you guys are in now?

@SW-User Makes sense. I live in dry west, which has its own issues. BUT can always buy a humidifier. They need deep periodic cleaning to reduce their mold build up, but it works better than damp climates. O! and forget AC if dry... use swamp coolers with ceiling level venting- windows are too low for good venting of warm air.

@Neoerectus BTW, swamp coolers also use less water, apparently. I read that a researcher discovered that cooling water in electricity generation used for running the compressors in AC was more thhn the water used for swamp coolers.

@Neoerectus I lived in Joshua Tree for a bit and learned about swamp coolers. It’s true survival out there. And very efficient living.

Your son probably doesn't care where he lives as long as he knows he is loved. I think we worry about those we love the most to the point of exhaustion sometimes. Be sure to take care of yourself so you can be there for him. I hope he feels better soon.

I’m sorry to hear! I agree with @WaryWitchWandering that it could be allergies from where you’re living. Poor guy, I hope someone figures it out for you ASAP.
🤗🤗 to you!
I keep him in my prayers… He definitely need to keep warm and eat well… antibiotics can also make him weak…

You are a good mom. If he’s not getting better then take him back to the doctor and they have to take it seriously. They are supposed to refer you to a specialist or emergency room especially if he has a high fever. Many young kids have issues with the flu and other illnesses because their immune system is weak. I hope he feels better soon. Good luck 👍🏼

Get him to that hospital you speak of. Whatever the cause, it sounds like he needs specialized care. And how is he doing today? So much shit going around.
