I Need to Vent

My cat just peed in my bed, and it got on both the duvet/comforter and the matress. I can sleep on the bed without the top matress, but I can't sleep without a duvet or blanket, and my sister is borrowing my spare duvet.

It's the middle of the night and the washing machine is already running a program.

To top it off, the fact that this even happened is making me anxious as all hell. I don't know why she did it. She had a clear line to her clean litterbox, and she's never had a problem with the sand or litterbox location before.

Did something stress her out? Is she sick? I know it's probably nothing, but this is so unusual of her and makes me really scared and paranoid that she's about to pee on something else.

Just trying really, really hard not to be mad at HER. She's just a cat.

Have there been any recent changes at home?
Is the litter box in a new place or have you started using a new brand of cat litter?

The cat could have a urinary tract infection of some kind.
You should get it to a vet to rule out that issue..

Is there anything near the litter box that makes noise?
Could be scaring it..

How old is the kitty?
Old age can bring joint pain and if the litter box is tall, the cat might be in pain trying to get in..

@SW-User I don't think there has been any changes? Maybe there's something I haven't noticed.

Litter box is unmoved from its normal place and the sand is the same.

She's pretty young, about 1 & 1/2 years.

The only thing I can think of as something different is that the duvet cover she peed on was brand new, bought today. Maybe something about it stressed her out.

When everything is clean and fresh try playing with the kitty on your bed, let the cat associate the bed with play..
But i think that you should definitely get her to a vet to check her for a urinary tract infection or some other medical issue.
