I Need to Vent

One of my "best friends" messaged me asking if I wanted to buy concert tickets but not a word asking how I'm recovering from surgery. I'm so done with people right now I can't even. How are people so damned self-centered?

On another note, I'm grateful for the people who have cared. Just venting as I'm shocked by her.

Ouch, I can see why that would hurt. You would think that a friend would ask how you're doing before anything else. Especially if you have gone through any kind of medical surgery or appointment for that matter. That should be the very first thing on any friends mind until they knew things were okay. I'm so sorry to hear that this friend has let you down so hard.

@gmatthewb Thank you. Yes, she did and several others who claim to "be there".

@abooklover Unfortunately, in life, we some times learn that the people we think of as friends end up not being friends after all. That can be very hurtful for us to learn. Feels much worse than them slapping us in the face. I really do hope you have a few friends who have been real friends to you though.

@gmatthewb I have a couple who have been constants. For them I am eternally grateful. It's just been surprising on the other end of the spectrum.

@abooklover I have always believed that as long as we can have one or two good friends that we can count on, that we have plenty to be thankful for. This just shows you the people in your life that you should put most of your focus on. The others are really only filler, worth what they have shown you they are worth.

@gmatthewb Excellent advice. I will certainly take it to heart and act accordingly.

@abooklover I'm sure you knew about that anyway. I am truly sorry to hear that a friend (or friends) that you thought were good friends have let you down so badly. There are few things in this world more painful than emotional hurt. Friends and family can cause the worst kinds of emotional hurt. Hopefully you recover from that hurt as quickly as you recover from your surgery.

@gmatthewb I hope so. You're so right. Therapy later will help too. I have a lot to say today.

@abooklover Having a lot to say is good, say it all. Never feel the need to hold back.

@gmatthewb I don't in therapy.

@abooklover Good, best place to open up and let everything out.
