I believe the criminals are going to do bad things. And it's the responsibility of the good people to protect those that can't be protected even you. The average response time for a police officer to get where I'm at in my town is 10 minutes. I don't believe the criminals going to wait that long. Criminals didn't go get a gun legally anyway. Most guns are stolen or bought illegally through other criminals. If you take guns away who's in control. What do you suggest we do to protect ourselves. There's already restrictions on modifying guns so cross that one off. As far as the amount of ammo you get why should there be a restriction on that? With ammo becoming more and more expensive it makes sense to buy more ammo while it's cheaper. I will agree with you on mental health issues. I think if your involuntarily committed because of your actions and you're a danger to others then you shouldn't be able to have a gun. But if you just get anxious every once in awhile and you have to take medication for it that shouldn't affect your gun rights.

According to the CDC there are a little over 30,000 gun related deaths a year in America including suicide if you don't include suicide its 12 + 15000. But also according to the CDC anywhere from $500,000 to 3 million lives are saved by defensive use of firearms. In most of those crimes were prevented just by showing the gun not shooting the person.

Then you would know that we already go through background checks. Criminals don't go through background checks. It's already illegal to own fully automatic weapons.
