My guess is that she is insecure and jealous. She wants to keep tabs on him because she is afraid he will eventually find someone else. People who like control isolate their partner from family and friends as a first step.

I'd recommend trying to make him dump her insecure butt, though it sounds like she's the type to completely lose it if the guy leaves her, so I'm not really sure what the best option would be in this case.
