I Need to Vent

My kid gets nosebleeds sometimes, the hospital gave us a soft peg thing to put on his nose and make it stop.

I sent it to school with him and asked his teacher to put it on his nose if it bled, simple right?

Today she told me that they could not use the peg without me filling in a form and writing out instructions for using it.

I said I didn't have time to get that done this morning so get him to just hold his nose I guess? "assuming you don't need me to write instructions and fill out a form for that?"

Makes me wonder what they do in an emergency. Just stand around and do nothing because there aren't any forms and instructions? What happened to being a human? 😑

It is ridiculous isn't it.
My grandaughter is asthmatic and sometimes needs an inhaler.
Where do they keep it ? In the head mistresses office ...
So by the time they have decided that she needs it and then the teacher or somebody goes to get it then it may well be too late one day. It really scares me the red tape they have to go through these days when a little common sense is all that is needed.
But I guess that is what happens when the very people you are supposed to trust the lives of your children with are so afraid of being sued that common sense goes straight out of the window.

@Fannyann It's funny, they say "safety first" but they mean "Not getting sued, first"

I want the peg to be kept in his bag where it can be used immediately but they want to lock it in a box on the other side of the school. He also has inhalers, so I understand that completely.

I'm sorry for all the hoops they want you to jump through. Does your son's school have a nurse? Perhaps you might want to sit and have a chat with the nurse, and I think getting a doctor's note should help too.

@PeanutsauntieP1982 hey have first-aiders and apparently they have never heard of a nose peg

school nowadays worry too much when it comes to kid's health and related matter.
ZenKitzune · F
@wintersecret The paper work you have to do just to get a kid through the day at school is ridiculous.
wintersecret · 46-50, M
@ZenKitzune School are more concern about own repo and also being in safe zone always.
thus they have long paper work for a tiny thing also
ZenKitzune · F
@wintersecret I get it, it's just sad though. they are losing that human touch.

Can't blame them... gotta blame the people that sue those that try to help
ZenKitzune · F
@SW-User when being sued comes before a kids safety that's a sad state of affairs.
SW-User
Sure, but it's reality...
ZenKitzune · F
@SW-User A kid died here because they couldn't get to her inhaler in time. That kind of thing is terrifying.

"Lawsuits, the American Way!" are what caused this sort of crap...
Fannyann · 61-69, F
@deadpoolshady You are so right.

If you quit voting for the people in POWER, things will change.....too much bureaucracy and no common sense.
