Why the fuck did the teacher have to choose these books?

The first book was from the pov of different people living in Haiti and all the absolute terrible things that go on there and all the suffering. The second combines the stories of a young boy escaping the holocaust and a young girl at the border trying to seek asylum even after separated from her mother and all the human rights violations and crimes being committed there.

Who the fuck chooses these books for students to read? It’s bad enough knowing this stuff happens still and not being reminded of it constantly. I can’t even watch the news anymore or go on social media. But not only do I have to read these horrible stories but write reports on them.
