STOP PUNISHING YOURSELF FOR WHAT GOD HAS ALREADY FORGIVEN
JESUS CAME TO SET THE CAPTIVE FREE! Luke 4:18
I thought God’s gift was a one-time payment. Jesus died. You’re forgiven. Now don't blow it, type thing. 🤭
But the Father’s gift never stops giving. It gave me FORGIVENESS that HOLDS!
Your sins are wiped TOTALLY CLEAN by the Blood of the Lamb! OBLITERATED!! ERASED AS FAR AS THE EAST IS FROM THE WEST. Psalm 103:12 and Hebrews 10:17 - “I will remember your sins no more.”
It gave me PEACE that stays!
Romans 8:1 - “There is NOW no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.”
NOT- “no condemnation if you’re good enough.” But NOW. Always.
It gave me TRUTH about consequences.
Yes, being in the flesh, we feel the EFFECTS of sin here. That means "we reap what we sow". Galatians 6:7 - But that’s not the Father punishing us over and over. Jesus ALREADY took the punishment. Isaiah 53:5 Jesus said, “It is FINISHED.” John 19:30
Friends, heaven isn’t a courtroom of shame. It’s a HOMECOMING. JOYFUL, NO SORROW, NO TEARS!
Zephaniah 3:17 - “He will rejoice over you with singing.”
The Father’s gift didn’t fail me, even though I fell.
It didn’t run out when I messed up. It keeps giving: forgiveness, mercy, love, every single morning! Lamentations 3:22-23
God's forgiveness does not mean every painful experience is punishment, nor can we assume that every hardship is a consequence of sin. Sometimes painful things happen simply because we live in a fallen world. We don't need to interpret every hardship as evidence that God is angry with us. Think about this: Jesus would not have sacrificed His life on the cross, if He was mad at us. He doesn't like what we do sometimes when we sin, but He still loves us individually, as a person...and that will never change. He proved His love on the cross. He gave us a gift he didn't have to, but wanted to. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13
And that's the freedom I want you to discover today: you can take responsibility for your sins, without living under a lifetime sentence of shame and self-inflicted condemnation. It's a devil's lie, that wants you to believe you're forever condemned. Jesus said just the opposite:
"You are loved, you are accepted just as you are, and your sins covered by my blood. I hope you will allow Me to bring you that peace that comes WITH forgiveness....by letting Me save your soul, so you can have eternal life in heaven."
Let me ask you. Have you ever made a mistake, asked God to forgive you, and then spent years feeling as though He was still angry with you? Do you sometimes believe that the painful things happening in your life, mean that God angry, and is STILL punishing you for your past?
Please, let this truth sink deeply into your heart: THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING CONDEMNED AND EXPERIENCING THE *CONSEQUENCES* OF YOUR SINS!
What you're feeling is not really condemnation. The truth is, what you're FEELING, are the RESULTS of having sinned against God. Huge difference. And that's SATAN still trying to condemn you; NOT YOUR SAVIOR. Don't let him chain you down that way. That's his way of keeping you feeling so ashamed, that you don't even want to GO to God, or do anything FOR Him. That's the kind of shame he knows will keep you OUT of church and from learning from the Holy Spirit.
When Jesus went to the cross, He demonstrated the depth of God's love for us. He didn't come to destroy us, but to save us! John 3:16 tells us that God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. And the very next verse tells us WHY He sent His Son! Not to condemn us, but to save us!
Think about that. Jesus knew every sin we would ever commit, yet He willingly went to the cross for us. His sacrifice was not a reluctant act. It was the expression of God's incredible love and His provision for our forgiveness.
When we confess our sins and turn to God, we can trust His promise to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). God's forgiveness is not pretend forgiveness. He doesn't forgive us today only to hold our forgiven sins over our heads tomorrow! Psalm 103:12 says, "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us."
Now, does forgiveness mean we never experience consequences? No. God's Word tells us that we reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7). Our choices can have lasting effects, but not lasting condemnation. We may experience broken relationships, lost opportunities, or painful reminders of decisions we wish we could change. But experiencing the consequences of sin is not the same thing as God condemning us!
We can learn from our mistakes, take responsibility, make things right wherever possible, and grow in wisdom without believing that God is standing over us in anger.
HERE IS THE DIFFERENCE I WANT YOU TO UNDERSTAND: "I'M NOT STILL BEING PUNISHED BY GOD JUST BECAUSE I'M FEELING THE CONSEQUENCES OF MY PAST. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE!"
Don't confuse conviction with condemnation, either. The Holy Spirit can lovingly correct us and lead us to repentance. God's correction is not proof that He has stopped loving us. It's proof that He DOES. He wants the best for us, and the best comes when we learn from our mistakes. And please remember Romans 8:1: "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus."
God does not ask us to pretend our sins never happened. He calls us to bring them into the light, receive His forgiveness, learn from them, and walk forward with Him.
You cannot change yesterday, but with God's help, you can live differently today.
So, if you have repented and received God's forgiveness, stop living as though you must keep paying for sins that He has forgiven. You are not honoring the cross by refusing to believe His promises. You honor Him by trusting what Jesus accomplished for you!
My friend, God is not asking you to spend the rest of your life hiding from Him in shame. He is calling you to come to Him. The cross is your reminder that God's answer to our sin was not to abandon us, but to provide a Savior!
You are accountable for your choices, but you do not have to live in constant fear that God is holding your forgiven past against you.
RECEIVE HIS MERCY. LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES. TRUST HIS PROMISES. AND KEEP WALKING WITH HIM.
Jesus did not come to condemn you to hell. He came to save you! THAT IS THE LOVE OF GOD DEMONSTRATED AT THE CROSS.
"For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." John 3:17 (KJV)
So today I learned that I can accept that I have to face my responsibilities when I go to heaven, but I think that's only right. We do the same when we stand before an earthly judge, in court. However, the most important thing for me to remember, is that I'm saved and nothing in this universe or beyond, can take that away from me, nor God's love. That's what counts ... Above ALL. ♥
