Living life to the fullest requires good mental health, which requires the financial situation to be able to pay the bills for good mental health, for which you need a job, for which you need to have good mental health for which you need the financial situation to be able to pay the bills for good mental health, for which you need a job, for which....

@assemblingaknob It's quite a vicious cycle isn't it? All of these :mental health, reliable financial situation/ having a job, are all necessary to survive in this world, it's true. All governments must provide work and good health care for EVERY citizen of its country and not spend so many millions on weapons. My post is simply a reminder that we must not live sedentary lives and feeling one day is just like the one before...to turn that grey day into a brilliantly sunny day full of energy, allowing ourselves the right to hope and dream and find ways to make them happen 🙂

@assemblingaknob Universal basic income and free comprehensive healthcare could probably fix that cycle.

@Dolimyte A great solution it would be. Politicians, star athletes, actors all getting paid a reasonable paycheck and not exorbitant amounts of money while the rest can barely make it the end of the month. So I agree, universal basic income so everyone gets a fair chance and opportunity. Free comprehensive healthcare is possible because in my country that has been the system for decades and it works, we only pay 15 percent when buying medicines but surgeries and doctors visits and hospital tests and stays are free. Dental services are a whole different matter however.

@Lucette I'm not too bothered by actors or athletes with big paychecks, although I do think they tend to be overvalued. I'm even ok with well paid politicians, if it's honest money that isn't from lobbyists, kickbacks, etc. It's the corporate big wigs that profit on the hardwork of others, and then horde the money away so that it's not useful to the economy.

We have "free" healthcare here too, it's the comprehensive part that's lacking. Drugs, vision, dental, physiotherapy, psychotherapy and more still needs to be covered out of pocket or with private insurance.

We had a UBI test program that was showing promising results, but a shift in political party put that to an end. 🙄☹

@Dolimyte I think it would be better if instead we paid firefighters and volunteers and missionary workers in Africa the kind of salary politicians, actors and athletes are being paid. They are not risking their lives the way those I mentioned are. Those that horde the money away as you say are leeches who exploit people to fill their pockets without caring about anyone.

Yes, sadly those areas are not part of the system. It is a pity as the older the population gets, the more these types of services are very much needed. Imagine though countries where there is absolutely no health care system, which is totally the violation of basic human rights.

That is unfortunate..imagine how different things could be if they could push through with it. I hope things will be better, hope, as they say, is the last thing we lose.

@Lucette I'm not a fan of missionary work.
Lucette · F
@DolimyteI respect your opinion. I have respect for the voluntary missionary workers that help sick and starving people in war-torn countries risking their lives(many having lost it) and never asking for payment, just some food and shelter. I consider them heroes.

@Lucette that's all great stuff. I love humanitarian efforts, I'd just prefer them to be secular in nature.
Lucette · F
@Dolimytei love humanitarian efforts too... I am thankful to all those who help with no intention to enrich themselves, secular or not😊
