medical assistance in dying
It has now been 10 years since MAID aka doctor-assisted suicide has been legal here in Canada and it has widely come to be seen as a right. I know people who have been directly involved in different ways and I don’t judge them at all, but for us as a society I am disturbed. I can't even put my finger on all the ways that this bothers me but one of them is this:
What is now a human right in Canada, provided as a publicly funded service? Having enough to eat? No. Food banks are run by charities. Having somewhere safe to live? No; there are more and more homeless people. Having a doctor kill you? Damn right.
