This may be a bit much for most, but...
I'm not 100% sure I'm not actually already dead. Isn't it true (or so it has been said) that the actual moment of a person's death is something they will never experience, that it isn't the way it's so often depicted in (for example) films?
In a scene you'll have a person dying in a hospital bed, and they'll be saying something like, "I think I'm going. Yes, I see my grandparents, I'm going, going... "
That's all rather melodramatic, and I've come across many NDE stories that to me seem all a little bit too perfect, so I'm inclined to believe that the "moment" of death will be a non-event.
Like when I was anethetised in hospital for my operation about three years ago. I was asked to count backwards from ten, but before I got to one I found myself already waking up. I don't remember a thing, the moment of the loss of consciousness just never happened. Well... how can I know for sure that it hasn't already occurred? Maybe it happened when I tried to overdose when I was 16. I ended up waking up really late, groggy from having taken all those sleeping pills, but maybe I didn't wake up at all.
Anyway, this could be Hell. It's definitely not Heaven.
