It is deeply sobering ...

... when a person on here passes away. A person we might know a little, but then realise we hardly know at all.

It feels wrong to me that their posts and comments linger on eternal, while their presence will never return. That sudden loss of control over our Earthly affairs seems unnatural, and untidy.

I hate that there will much I will forget over the coming years, until I struggle to recall the usernames and profile pictures of some. I guess that's the nature of casual acquaintances though, and it happens in the real world too ... or at least it did, back when any of us used to live there.

Farewell Bookerdana.

So very true.

Life is fleeting. But sometimes their mark is imprinted on us too and we take with us wherever we may be

It is sobering.

I wonder if that is because death is such a denied thing in our world, even though it is our reality.
@Zeusdelight I believe you're right.
I thought about him the day before it was announced. Someone had mentioned him saying he had complained of Internet issues. In this say and age, they dont last long.
He was so subtle in his support but so gracious with it too. Whoever got to know him was truly lucky.

I am always curious if someone on here passes away--how would we know? I know a few people who were sick who disappeared...wish there could be a place on here to check!! Probably impossible...
@Docdon23 Yes. That's an awful downside of our anonymity.

I didn’t know him well but we would occasionally chat about chess on some posts. I am sorry to hear of his passing. 😞
