A piece of me is gone
She Was the Wind Beneath My Wings
There are some souls
too bright for this world to keep forever.
My aunt was one of them.
She walked through life
with courage stitched into her spirit,
carrying strength so gracefully
Her laughter—
warm, contagious, unforgettable—
could fill the darkest room
and make sorrow loosen its grip for a little while.
She was sunlight after storms,
hope when my heart was weary,
the voice that reminded me
I was never alone.
When life hurt,
I ran to her wisdom.
When I felt broken,
she helped me find my strength again.
She lived with a beautiful fire inside her,
a zest for life that made ordinary moments
feel sacred.
Even now, I can still feel her love
wrapped around my heart like a gentle prayer.
And though grief now sits beside me,
so does gratitude—
because I was lucky enough
to be loved by a woman so extraordinary.
She truly was
the wind beneath my wings,
the bright light in a world of darkness,,
this world feels dimmer without her in it.
But her laughter still echoes.
Her love still guides me.
And her strength lives on
inside everyone blessed enough
to know her.
